Boyce Gardens

Location; Maps; Symbols; The Gold Coast of Queensland, the second-largest state in Australia, was first occupied by Australian Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders who arrived nearly 40,000 years ago. At that time the region encompassing present-day New South Wales and Queensland was simply known as New South Wales. UQ Business School leads the agenda in business learning, innovation and impactful research. Our mission is to create and empower courageous thinkers who empower future leaders to positively transform business and society.

Open to the public, Boyce Gardens in Toowoomba covers six hectares of gardens, forest and park. The UQ Boyce Estate Meeting Facilities, located within the gardens, offer rooms for hire for short courses, seminars and meetings.

UQ Brisbane City

Location

UQ's central Brisbane site at 293 Queen Street offers flexible corporate spaces to students, alumni and industry. It is home to the UQ Business School's MBA program and executive education courses.

Customs House

Customs House is a riverside restaurant, function and heritage facility in Brisbane's CBD with views of the Story Bridge. The Customs House restaurant is open to the public, and rooms are available to hire for corporate and private functions.

Heron Island Research Station

Heron Island Research Station is a world-class teaching and research facility in the Great Barrier Reef renowned for coral reef, ecological, marine and climate change research.

Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre

Located at the UQ Experimental Mine in Indooroopilly, the Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre is the largest Australian research centre in its field. It collaborates with major mining and mineral processing research groups worldwide. The Centre is part of the Sustainable Minerals Institute.

Long Pocket

Long Pocket is a research-oriented precinct in Indooroopilly in Brisbane's west. It's home to the Institute for Social Science Research and Long Pocket Spinifex Nanocellulose Downstream Pilot Facility. UQ staff and students can use the free St Lucia to Long Pocket shuttle bus to travel to the Long Pocket site.

Medicine clinical units and teaching hospitals

Our medical students complete training rotations in clinical units located in hospitals across Brisbane, Ipswich and the Sunshine Coast. The Rural Clinical School provides medical education and training for students in rural and regional areas, with teaching sites at Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Rockhampton and Toowoomba.

Moreton Bay Research Station

The Moreton Bay Research Station at Dunwich on North Stradbroke Island houses a wide range of marine and terrestrial research activities, as well as facilities and accommodation for conferences and retreats.

Pharmacy Australia Centre of Excellence

Located in Woolloongabba, the Pharmacy Australia Centre of Excellence (PACE) is the primary teaching location for students studying pharmacy at UQ, and a leading facility for pharmaceutical research, education and commercialisation.

Pinjarra Hills Research Facility

A 282-hectare facility in the western outskirts of Brisbane, Pinjarra Hills provides space and facilities for a range of research activities that are not possible at other UQ campuses or sites.

UQ seismograph stations

The UQ Seismological Observatory operates a network of seismographs around South East Queensland, including Mt Nebo and Monto. The stations are used to detect local and distant earthquakes, mine blasts and other geological signals.

UQ Vets Dayboro

UQ's rural veterinary practice at Dayboro is open to the general public, and offers services for large and small animals. It is also a teaching hospital for UQ veterinary students.

Capabilities & Specialties

Science Workshops technicians possess the necessary safety inductions and local knowledge of the Faculties research and teaching laboratories. The Workshops offer a wide range of general maintenance, repair and installation services within both laboratory and office areas. When submitting a job request that requires Workshops staff to carry out work in your lab on your equipment you will need to download and complete the Hazardous Equipment Work form, which you will then attach to your work request.

  • Acrylic light covers for various instruments
  • Supply and fitting of Swagelok fittings for various gas installations
  • Fully sealed melamine shelving (PC2 suitable)
  • Manufacturing of stainless steel trolleys
  • Stainless steel water bath cleaning and servicing
  • Manufacturing of laboratory benches and specialized furniture
  • Replacement, servicing and supply of spare parts for laboratory equipment
  • Minor office repairs and maintenance
Provisions for Electrical Safety
  • Carry out safety inspections and testing of electrical equipment
  • Remove items that are identified as unsafe from service.
